Resting in Grace – Day 5 Health Challenge

Want to start from the beginning? Click on the photo. Welcome to my fibro-flare. These elements of my life are actually more important than any striving toward health I can achieve. They are also the hardest to master. How Did I Rest Today? Called In Sick – I hate doing this, but I swallowed my pride. I was having severe myoclonic jerks, fainted, and had to crawl to the phone to call my boss to tell her I…

The Full Story of the Princess and the Pea

ONCE upon a time, there was a prince who wanted to marry a real princess. He had to find a person who understood the true meaning of being sensitive so that she would be able to have compassion on her subjects. He traveled all over the world to find one, but nowhere could he get what he wanted. There were princesses enough, but it was difficult to find out whether they were real ones. They all seemed able to cry on command, but could any of them feel a slight change in temperature or the brush of the lightest feather against their cheek? So he came home again and was sad, for he would…

    Are You Okay?

Thank you to The Mighty for publishing this post! Check out their amazing online magazine by clicking the link!   My hand’s shaking. No, not now. I can’t. “Mrs. Auwarter, did you hear me?” “No, I’m sorry, honey, please tell me again.” Stomach clenching. Did I eat this morning? Yes, crackers, scissors cutting at my stomach lining. “So, can you help me?” “Wait, sorry, could you tell me just one more time?” Her eyes roll, and I concentrate on my student’s face. I will understand this time. “Is this sentence, right?” I look down. English? Oh, good, I understand that. It’s fuzzy though. The words aren’t naturally fuzzy. I feel…

How to Silence the Inner Critic

This post may contain affiliate links. have found that living with my chronic pain that comes from Fibromyalgia causes me to be unkind to myself. These are some coping techniques I have used to fight the inner critic. Take Time to Celebrate – Every little thing that I accomplish (From putting on clothes to setting a new record in running), I either mentally (Good job, Elizabeth!) or physically (Do a little dance!) celebrate. This is actually a proven technique to develop new habits. Quartz quoted B.J. Fogg, “a psychologist and researcher at Stanford University who has studied behavior change for more than 20 years”, as saying the act of celebration is…
