    Trust God?

This post may contain affiliate links. Trusting God is much easier to talk about than to do. As I write this, my heart aches with longing to trust God and a small insight of how I didn’t this week. I can’t go into all that much detail, but it did involve money. I know that my God will supply all of my needs, but I doubt His provision when I am not sure I will have the resources to provide for those needs myself. I have seen so many “encouraging” sayings like: You can do it!, Trust yourself!, Learn to love yourself!, and my favorite, Visualize it to get it!…

    Celebration! – Day 7

Hooray! We made it through one week! An essential part of habit-forming is celebrating after you have finished the task. We use this for students in teaching too. It’s called “positive reinforcement”, and it works! What I Did Exercise: Yoga Poses, Side Planks, Crunches Colostrum: One Teaspoon Writing: Blog Meditation:  “…My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me…My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will…The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” – Matthew 26:38-41 “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on…

    Betrayal

Dear Jesus, on Wednesday, with Judas, we betrayed you. Save us from the evil that is within us. We desire to be the Kings and Queens of our own little Kingdoms and we pay the consequences of that daily. But, you have gone ahead of us and taken the consequences upon yourself. – The Most Holy of Weeks Luke 22:1-6 It is close to Passover, Satan possesses Judas, and Judas conspires with the Chief Priests and Scribes to betray Jesus. What are the Chief Priests and Scribes Feeling? They are angry enough with Jesus to want to kill him but afraid of the anger of the people if they did so.…

    Pursuing Our Little Kingdoms

Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken Soul, then know thy full salvation Rise o’er sin and fear and care Joy to find in every station, Something still to do or bear. Think what Spirit dwells within thee, Think what Father’s smiles are thine, Think that Jesus died to win thee, Child of heaven, canst thou repine. Dear Jesus, on Tuesday, you taught us in the temple with the religious and the pious. Deciding that we’d had enough of your challenges, we set our minds upon killing you. Give us humble faith in you and your way. Save us from the “small story” of our own little kingdoms which lead to…

    With Mary, Pour Out

This week is Holy Week, the week before Easter. Ewan Kennedy, my pastor at Church of the Redeemer, wrote an amazing Holy Week devotional (The Most Holy of Weeks). In today’s devotional Kennedy asks the reader to examine John 12:1-7. In this passage, Mary pours expensive perfume on Jesus’ feet. Martha is working away. Lazarus is hanging out, and Judas complains. “Dear Jesus, on Monday, with Mary, we wept at your feet and anointed you for burial. Meet us in our tears. We have such longing.” -The Most Holy of Weeks My Lover, my God, Your love covers my fears and pain. I pray that, with Mary, I pour out my…
